RTC – MOD-06 – Pt.05 – Going Around

A “Go Around” involves the aircraft remaining at 1000ft QFE, or if descent on final has begun, climbing back up to 1000ft QFE and flying out to the Dead Side of the airfield, before rejoining the VCCT on the upwind leg.

The pilot must initiate a “Go Around” if:

  • They have not been issued a clearance to use the runway by the time the aircraft has reached 200ft QFE
  • The pilot does not believe they will get a clearance by 200ft QFE (i.e. an aircraft ahead of them will not have left the runway by the time they reach 200ft QFE)
  • ATC tells the pilot to “Go Around”
