RTC – MOD-08 – Pt.01 – Intro

Welcome to Module 8 of the RTC. In this module we’re going to cover the basic of weather systems and how to apply them within the limitations of DCS.

In the course you will cover the following:

• Understanding the Weather
• Wind
• Visibility
• Significant Weather
• Clouds
• Temperature
• Pressure
• Trends, Remarks and Aerodrome Colour Codes
• METARs

To finish the course you will be required to pass a Check of Understanding.

Weather, or Wx as it’s shortened to, is a fundamental factor in aviation, both civil and military. Understanding how to read it and fly around or within its constraints is hugely important, even in DCS. Within DCS, Wx is a simplified model and the mission Wx will dictate the optimum way to conduct the mission itself.

In this module we will discuss the most important elements of the weather that relate to mission creation and carrying out said mission.
