RTC – MOD-03 – Pt.02 – What is Barometric Pressure

Barometric Pressure (also known as Atmospheric pressure outside of aviation) is simply a measure of the “weight of the air [above]” at any given point.

In aviation it is measured in 3 different units:

  • Millibar(MB)/Hectopascal(hPa) in Europe
  • Inches of Mercury (InHg) in North America
  • Millimeters of Mercury (mmHg) in Russia

It’s important to note that it is only accurate to the point it was measured, anywhere else it will be different.

In DCS however it isn’t always entirely different. (more on that later)
