RTC – MOD-06 – Pt.10 – Considerations

The following considerations should be kept in mind while carrying out Visual Joins. However experiance will play a large role in how you execute joins and how you adapt them to the situation:

  • Aircraft require different speeds in the VCCT/Finals, Controllers and Pilots need to be mindful and issue “Go Arounds” as Necessary
  • Break speed is a maximum of 400 kias, this is not mandatory and some aircraft have maximum break speeds far below this, check the manuals
  • If you need to extend out downwind, let ATC (and everyone else) know
  • The break turn may cut up another aircraft early Downwind or Upwind, this is normal, Pilots will need to judge based on being visual whether or not to cut up another aircraft, VCCT is Visual, KEEP VISUAL
